Schwinn 431 Elliptical Trainer: Is This The Best Elliptical On The Market?

One of the mid-level priced elliptical machines out there in the exercise market is the Schwinn 431 elliptical trainer machine. If you are thinking of buying this machine, here are some finer points that you may want to consider.

Closer look at Schwinn 431 elliptical trainer

This Schwinn 431 Elliptical Trainer machine uses Eddy Current Brakes or ECB for its resistance. This fly wheel resistance lasts longer than the belt tension that some of the cheap elliptical machines use. This makes it a good buy for those planning to use the machine for a good long time.

The Schwinn 431 elliptical machine also has a built in back lit LCD monitor that will allow you to check your details like the speed, heart rate, calories burned, distance, etc. Note also that this console also has a towel hook and your personal fan for your own convenience.

This machine may not have the longest stride inches, with its 18-inch stride, but it most certainly is better than those that only offer 8 inches of stride. The Schwinn 431 elliptical may be more comfortable to use for those with a short build but it may be quite restricting for those who are above 6 feet. However, be prepared to shell out more than $1,500 if you are looking for an elliptical machine that can go beyond 20 inches.

For your exercise pleasure, the Schwinn 431 elliptical trainer has a total of 19 work out programs built into its system and that is more than enough to keep your work out routine interesting each time. Also, it has 16 resistance levels that you can go through, making it a machine both for the beginners and the experienced trainers.

Schwinn machine is also very quite and hums very silently while you exercise. It is very stable and for those that have a hard time assembling even the easiest of machines, this elliptical fitness equipment will not be a problem.

The Bad

The hear rate monitor of the machine uses pulse grip, which gives a close approximation of your heart rate. To get a more accurate heart rate, you would need to buy a separate monitor. It would have been better to have a telemetric monitor that is wireless and can get your heart rate accurately.

Also, the Schwinn 431 elliptical trainer machine has only 6 months of labor warranty which may be a bit discouraging for some as it shows how low the company is willing to extend a limb for this item’s warranty labor but it does have 15 year warranty for the entire frame of the machine.

The Verdict

The Schwinn 431 Elliptical Trainer is chock-full of features that you can see in most high-end machines. A great thing about this is that it is priced as a midlevel machine, what with the lower warranty and the heart rate monitoring system. All in all, the Schwinn 431 Elliptical is a good buy as it has a great overall workmanship and electronic system. If you are worried about the warranty, it may be time to consider taking care of your equipment better so as this will not be your future problem.
