Most Expensive Elliptical Fitness Equipment: Pay More For Better Quality

The best deals in town are not necessarily the best in value. More often, especially when you are purchasing equipment, you have to shell out a little more to get better value. When you pay more, you get better quality, better service and more mileage on your equipment. Take exercise machines, when you go to your local gym, you use an elliptical trainer that looks and feels professional. Such machine is more likely to cost more than what you would be able to afford to buy for personal use.

Among the most expensive elliptical fitness machines are those from Precor, Motus and Octane. When it comes to pricey elliptical trainers that give you the latest features, these brands give you the most value according to reviews from Prevention magazine, Consumer Reports magazine and TreadmillDoctor.com. As far as elliptical trainers go, you are better off with a machine that is priced from mid-range to high-range.

Precor’s EFX5.17i, the manufacturer’s entry-level model, is sure to last a long time. It is durable and packed with features such as programmed courses, a heart-rate monitor, resistance level adjustment and incline adjustment. Higher up in the price ladder is Precor’s EF5.31 which fetches at a little less than $4000. This version has an adjustable stride as well as a program that records workout statistics of up to two persons. A downer with these models is the absence of movable handlebars to work the upper body. The newer models of Precor’s EFX line has corrected this and added convertible arms to give exercisers the option to work out the upper body as well.

Octane Fitness Q37e is also one of the most expensive elliptical fitness machines in the market. With a price tag that starts at around $3000, Octane Fitness Q37e is a great value with its durable construction and versatile features. It is equipped with adjustable resistance and incline levels and has ten pre-programmed courses to give both lower and upper body workout. After-sales service is also included.

At over $6000, manufacturer Motus’ M770EL Elliptical Crosstrainer is perhaps the most expensive elliptical machine in the market today. Its resistance levels, 25 levels in all, is controlled by a poly V-belt drive system that moves from level to level in a smooth and quite motion. Apart from the pre-programmed workouts and heart-rate monitors, the Motus M770EL Elliptical Crosstrainer comes equipped with state-of-the-art features like transporting wheels, a reading rack and a 15-inch LCD TV display that has TV, VHS and DVD functions.

When you buy at a bargain, you might end up spending more on parts and labor charges of after-sales service. Worse, you might not even be able to get the benefits you wanted from your cheap machine because it’s broken even before you reach your fitness goal. Look at the features of the machine that you are looking to buy and then research on the quality of what you are buying. Compare brands and ask other users. When you make an informed purchase decision, even if you buy at a higher price, you are sure that you are getting more value for your money.
